NDUGA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 432/Waspada Setia Jaya Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Thursday, 29 August 2024, the 432 Task Forces, especially the Mbuwa Post led by First Lieutenant Fahrizal, implemented the results of Social Communication with Community Figures in the Digilimu Village, Mbuwa District, along with the Leader and Staff of the Sion Church, to hold community service in cleaning of the church and its surroundings.
In his emphasis on the Soldiers, the Commander of the 432 Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Zulfikar Akbar Helmi, conveyed the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. Therefore, two weeks prior, 1LT Fahrizal had conducted Social Communication with the Digilimu Village Community Figures and the Leader and Staff of the Sion Church regarding plans to clean the church. After discussion, they agreed that the cleaning time would be on Thursday (29/8) morning at the Church.
After preparations, the Soldiers with the community were ready to conduct the cleaning. All residents and the Soldiers were enthusiastic about the cleaning, which was a historic first, involving community members and the Soldiers on duty in Papua. The entire environment inside and outside the Church could not be separated from the touch of the hands of the Soldiers and community members. After the activity, Mr. Imerid Wesak (55), a Digilimu Village Community Figure, said, "Thank you, Commander 432, this is a historic moment, the first time the Task Forces and the community cleaned the Church together. God bless."
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to clean up the Sion Church through collaboration with the community. His words: "The 432 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive Social Communication with all residents in the Task Area, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA not only underscores the importance of such initiatives but also instills a sense of optimism about their potential impact on the region's development.
